New Inclusive Features
Microsoft continue to roll out new Teams features, and at Microsoft Ignite the focus was very much on inclusivity.
Meetings, Calling and Devices
Live captions and transcripts with speaker attribution available for 1:! calls and meetings
As more calls, events and meetings take place virtually, it's important to make sure everyone understands the discussion and can take part with ease, including those with disabilities.
Live captions and transcripts with speaker attributions provide a more inclusive meeting environment for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have learning disabilities such as dyslexia and prefer spoken content to be further reinforced by text. You can provide transcripts and live transcripts with speaker attribution from 1:1 calls to 1,000 participant meetings. Meetings with up to 20,000 now also include live transcripts.
Features are activated in the control bar within the call or meeting window.
New scenes for Together Mode
Remaining connected is not only important for our work and productivity, but also for our mental health and wellbeing.
Microsoft has introduced several new capabilities to Teams to help us feel connected, one of these is Together mode, a view in Teams meetings that makes you feel like you're sitting in the same room with your teammates, making it easier to pick up on non-verbal cues that form part of natural interaction and connection.
This week Microsoft announced new Together mode scenes coming later this year including auditoriums, coffee shops and conference rooms.

With Cortana voice assistance and Room Remote on Microsoft Teams Room devices, people with vision and mobility disabilities can more easily use shared meeting room devices with their voice—completely hands free—or with their mobile device. These new capabilities build on the flexibility already afforded by proximity join.
Dynamic view - Dynamic view gives you more control over how you see shared contact and see the other meeting participants. New controls allow you to show shared content and specific participants side-by-side and give you a personalised, customisable view. This is particularly useful to participants who are deaf and require a sign language interpreter in order to participate. With Dynamic view participants can pin their interpreter so they are always in view.
Live Presentations in Teams - PowerPoint Live allows audience members to follow along live on their own device, move through slides and enable subtitles in their native language.
