After the announcement that Skype for Business Online will retire on July 31, 2021, Skype customers may be considering migrating to Microsoft Teams, many Wavenet customers already have.
Wavenet will continue to support Skype for Business until 2025. With Wavenet you get the most advanced unified communications system on the market and your choice of client including Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams.
If you are considering migrating to Microsoft Teams, or already have, this blog is here to keep you up to date with the latest MS Teams feature releases which will make your jobs easier. After all, we're here to help your teams collaborate, communicate and exceed at work.
Imagine a critical, time-sensitive situation at work - from needing a customer's recent purchase history, needing quick access to a shared document, or needing a hospital patient’s medical history. With priority notifications, you can send someone an urgent message on their mobile and desktop device. They will be notified of the message every two minutes for up to 20 minutes, so you are more likely to get the response you need, quickly.
Unlimited priority notifications in Microsoft Teams will be made available for a limited time, running from July 2019 to December 31, 2019. During this time, all Teams users will be able to send unlimited priority notifications.
Live Captions in Meetings and Live Events
Do you consider how all your audience members or participants will be accessing your meetings or live events?
Live captions and subtitles allow attendees to read speaker captions in real-time - helping improve the accessibility and effectiveness of meetings (private preview) and live events (public previews). This is a game changing feature for those who are deaf or hard of hearing, have different levels of language proficiency, or are connecting from a loud location.
Captions and subtitles in live events supports more than 50 languages, so participants easily select the one that optimises their experience. Today in private preview, meetings support live captions in English, with more languages coming soon!
When organising a live event, six languages can be chosen for captions and subtitles in addition to the spoken language. For example, if the spoken language is English, but you know there’s an office in the Netherlands tuning in, Dutch (Netherlands) can also be selected, so they can get captions in Dutch.
- Supported spoken languages for this feature include English, German, and Chinese.
- Supported translation languages include Afrikaans, Arabic, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified, PRC), Creole, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Klingon, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malagasy, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Queretaro Otomi, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Serbian (Latin), Serbian Cyrillic, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tahitian, Thai, Tongan, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, Welsh, and Yucatec Maya.
After live events have finished, transcripts can be downloaded for each of the languages selected for captions and subtitles. You can find these in Meetings > Live event > Live event resources > Transcripts
Screen Share with Mobile App
Share your screen from your mobile device with the Microsoft Teams app. Imagine you are in a conference call while out of the office on your phone, and the meeting starts to discuss that important PowerPoint slide or document that you have been working on. Now you don't have to say "I'll have to show you when I get back to my desk", as you can now share your screen from your mobile.
