How to Set Your IP Phone to Do Not Disturb Mode

Posted by Paul Wilson on 12 April, 2016

If you're in a meeting, or working to a deadline, you might want to activate Do Not Disturb mode on your Mitel IP phone.

This mode will reject incoming calls automatically, and any callers that try to contact you will hear the engaged tone. Additionally, they'll see a message on their phone's screen confirming that you do not want to be disturbed by the call.

This Mitel phone guide is for MiVoice Business (also known as Mitel 3300 ICP) users only.

Activating Do Not Disturb

To turn on Do Not Disturb on your local Mitel IP Phone, press the pre-programmed Do Not Disturb key. If the key hasn't yet been programmed, contact your system administrator or helpdesk.

To turn on Do Not Disturb on a different extension:

  1. Lift the handset on your phone
  2. Dial the number of the extension where Do Not Disturb will be activated
  3. Hang up your phone

When Do Not Disturb is active, you will see a Do Not Disturb icon on the display of the phone to remind you.

Turning Off Do Not Disturb Mode

To turn off Do Not Disturb, press the pre-programmed key. If you want to turn it off on a remote extension:

  1. Lift the handset on your phone
  2. Dial the feature access code that corresponds to the function
  3. Dial the number of the extension
  4. Hang up your handset

If you're not sure what the feature access code is, you can refer to this list of default codes on the Mitel forum.
