Club Solar 2017 - What Went Down

Posted by Elliot Dacosta on 05 July, 2017

July 4th marks American independence, but more importantly this year it marked Club Solar 2017 and whilst there were no fireworks in the sky, the same cannot be said on the course!

The event was created as a thank you to Solar customers who were treated to a day of golf, networking, drinks and dining at the Mere in Knutsford – arguably one of the best courses in the North of England.

Registration for the day kicked off at around 11am with hopeful golfers being greeted with breakfast and coffees (the breakfast of champions no less). On hand at this point we had Ian and Mark from ShoreTel who were demonstrating ShoreTel Connect to the guys and answering any questions they had on the products.

Following 30 minutes or so of using the rather unique driving range the Mere offers, which consists of driving balls into the Mere lake itself, the first group teed off just before 1pm and weren’t seen again until the 11th hole where there is a conveniently located bar for some light refreshments – as well as a chance to vent frustrations from the tough holes leading to it.

After a quick pit stop the teams, refreshed and raring to go went back out onto the course ready for the home stretch of the golfing part of the day. As the first groups began making their way to the club house, with radiant smiles and solemn looks evenly spread throughout, they were met with a nice cold beer, you know, after their “hard day at the office”.

Stomachs were undeniably rumbling by this point so after a quick shower and clothing change, we sat down to enjoy a 3 course meal and some more refreshments. What dinner would be complete without a show? Cue Will Kennedy, Solar’s Sales and Marketing Director, to give a few thoughts about the day, about ShoreTel’s offerings but most importantly, to distribute the prizes from the day!

Special shout out to Mel Davies who defended his crown from Club Solar last year, as well as Lee Turtle who seemed to go home with a new wardrobe after seemingly securing nearly every other prize – all bar Solar’s James Finucane who got the wooden spoon.

After a few more drinks and conversations about ShoreTel the night concluded, and with it Club Solar 2017.

A successful day from start to finish! Keep your eyes peeled for Club Solar 2018, if this year is anything to go by you DO NOT want to miss out!
